Plans & Pricing

The ADP pricing structure is tailored to the individual needs of the business so it’s not publicly listed. The price one brand is quoted would be different from the price of another brand with a similar situation would be quoted. On average, you’ll pay around $10/m/person but that can increase considerably depending on your contract structure and add-ons.

Essential

The entry-level plan gives you the tools you need to accurately run payroll and stay compliant with the law. It includes reporting, direct deposit, W-2 & 1099 management, filing taxes, delivering payroll, time and attendance, employee access, and onboarding.

Enhanced

The Enhanced plan builds on top of the Essential plan with limited insurance administration, check signing, background checks, workers compensation, and retirement planning. You also get access to ZipRecruiter to improve your pool of applicants.

Complete

The Complete plan is designed for larger brands with more complex payroll needs. It adds to the Enhanced plan with access to an HR support team, employee handbook creation tool, employee information tracking, HR document templates, and training material.

HR Pro

The highest tier focuses more on the HR aspect and provides tools to handle even the most complex situations. It adds the enhanced HR support team, enhanced employee handbook tools, and employee/ employer HR training.

The entry-level pricing for ADP is in line with other providers but some of the higher tiers can get pricey. It does offer a wider range of features than most. It has almost everything you need for human resource management

Features and Functionality

ADP may have one of the most complete feature sets of any payroll solution out there. ADP is available in the cloud and through mobile apps so you can easily access your data from anywhere. You can be sure that the core payroll features are comprehensive enough to handle your needs. In addition, it offers robust reporting, automatically flags possible errors, state unemployment insurance management, direct debit, check printing, debit cards, and much more.

Time tracking

The time tracking module allows employees to clock in and out from a mobile device or computer. It also helps compute overtime, manage vacation time, and publish staff schedules online.

Recruiting

It offers services for the full spectrum of the recruitment process from creating a job posting and distributing it to onboarding new employees. Track every touchpoint, parse resumes, and even run background checks.

Tax compliance

Get access to the right methodologies and information for each region where you operate. It constantly tracks new laws, updates in real-time, and files taxes on your behalf. It has clear reporting and regular reports to ensure you stay on top of tax issues if/when they arise.

Integrations & Add-ons

ADP has a large collection of integrations in multiple categories to enhance business operations but it really shines with add-ons. The integration categories include accounting, ERPs, time and attendance, recruiting, learning, benefits administration, and more. The add-ons provided by ADP make many of these integrations unnecessary so it’s worth taking a closer look at them for your business.

Quickbooks

The Quickbooks integration allows you to automatically itemize and include the expenses associated with payroll into your accounts. This will save a lot of time from manual data entry and reduce the number of errors.

Slack

If you’re already using Slack, the ADP integration allows your team members to get their pay and HR information directly from the messaging app. It offers many features that reduce the workload of the HR team such as allowing people to create time-off requests, giving them access to view deductions, and much more.

Risk management training

It offers prepackaged training designed to help teams mitigate the risks and challenges associated with COVID-19 and other common business situations. It allows you to deliver content to your employees whether they’re in the office or at home and the training is tailored to different types of businesses.

Ease of Use

ADP is fairly simple to use and individuals are usually able to start working with it on the same day. After registering an account you just need to update your company information and bank account details. You’re able to customize many aspects of the platform and pull detailed reports that give you insights into your human capital. There are multiple training options including live online, documentation, and a few tutorial videos.

Customer Support

ADP support has proven itself to be knowledgeable about the application and relevant laws for the service areas they cover. The support team serves as a resource for clients who have questions about employee management and best practices. It’s also responsive so you won’t have to wait too long to get in touch with someone.

Final Word

ADP is a powerful employee management solution that covers everything from payroll to time tracking and recruiting. Employees have access to their own portal to check on pertinent information and you’re able to get set up and running with a minimal learning curve. In addition to the core payroll services, you can administer different benefits from health insurance to retirement planning. It extends its core software with a large integration ecosystem that spans over multiple categories.

ADP’s pricing isn’t readily available and you’d have to talk to a sales rep before you get an accurate quote. With that being said, it’s not overly expensive for what it offers. Similar to other payroll services, the add-ons are where it can get expensive so decide ahead of time what’s essential and what isn’t. All things considered, it’s a well-developed solution for small and medium businesses that’ll give you flexibility and peace of mind when it comes to payroll.

Lengthy wait to get help - through chat, email or phone.

We have been with ADP for about 5 years. In this time, they have gone from being quick to respond and easy to get help, to waiting an hour and a half to speak with someone, or an unhelpful virtual chat, or a day or so by email. If you never have questions about your payroll, it's a good way to go. Online processing is fairly simple and straight forward, but if you occasionally need more help, I wouldn't recommend it.
